Cat in the Hat

 Main Idea
The main idea of this story was to teach the main characters of how they would act in a cat form. The cat was the, in a sense, the hero of the story. I say this because he taught the siblings a valuable lesson even though they were both so different from each other. The brother's actions were portrayed by the cat being reckless and care-free teaching him that with being reckless comes a lot of responsibility. This was in a sense a mirror to how his mother would have to take responsibility for all of the boy's actions. On the other hand, you have the uptight sister who learned to let loose and enjoy her youth.

What was your personal reaction to this reading selection?
I thought this story is taken very lightly by the general population. I say this because most children when they read this just think of a comedic story about the adventures of two siblings and a large cat. This story has much more meaning to it than what meets the eye. This story teaches about responsibility.

What do you believe the author's intent was, and what patterns of the organization did you observe?
I believe the author's intent for this was to have a positive spin-off on responsibility with this comedic and adventurous story. The organization patterns that I noticed were cause-effect and problem-solution.
